1880's Dispenser Display

What happened to the days where things were designed with that sophistication that made the simplest tasks have a beautiful meditative quality? Take a look at this! This was in the dock of an old shipping and receiving hub and was untouched by humans for...well let,s just say a long time. Piece can be loaded with wrapping paper, ribbons, thread, cloth, or any item that dispenses material. I looked at it and thought it would look stunning with an array of ribbon for wrapping gifts--maybe I have Christmas on the mind. Item has a groove where the wooden dowel goes to hold these items in place. This would also look great in a vintage retail shop, grocer, or any shop that cares to have every detail considered.
