C. 1930's Leather Fire Helmet with Eye Shields (Virgils)

There is no doubt the excellent craftsmanship that went into making this hat is enough: nicely tooled leather with decorative ornaments on the top edge and great wear are just a few stand outs. What makes this piece really unique as well are the protective eye flaps that come down via a spring action to make a nice low eye shield. The inside lining is still in the hat along with the name of the fire fighter scrawled on the back felt (Virgil) is still visible. Piece came from Chicago. Size is marked 7 1/4
